Notes: Étude en latin des procédures judiciaires pour les affaires criminelles par le juriste brugeois Joos de Damhouder. Ce serait l’une des premières sommes complètes sur la criminalité sous toutes ses formes: parricide, viol, enlèvement, vol, etc. La particularité de ce traité réside dans ses 73 bois gravés, certains à pleine page, dont 2 blasons du roi Philippe II et de Joos de Damhouder, un portrait de l’auteur, et 70 grandes vignettes très expressives représentant des scènes de crime, certaines assez licencieuses, et des actes de torture et de châtiments en tous genres.
Ex-libris aux armes de Jean-Marie Portalis, avocat qui fut l’un des rédacteurs du Code civil, et ex-libris héraldique non identifié d’un évêque. Restauration marginale sans atteinte au texte p.494, quelques rousseurs, reliure un peu abîmée.
