Description: serial #225/5920, 9 mm Bergmann Bayard, 3 7/8" barrel with a bright excellent bore. The metal surfaces on this Belgian-made, Pieper-manufactured early semi-auto pistol retain about 80-85% original blue, the loss is due primarily to light fading and high edge wear with the right side of the barrel showing two moderate spots of oxidation which have left some pitting. The hammer, trigger and magazine release are polished bright and are mostly bright with some very minor oxidation staining. The smooth arsenal-fitted walnut grips rate about excellent and are appropriately numbered to the gun "920". The extractor retains vivid fire tempered blue and the magazine is numbered "5933". The left side of the barrel extension is Danish arsenal-marked "M.1910/21" beneath the Pieper manufacturer marking, from the time of the Danish arsenal refitting of these guns when improvements were made to the extractor and bolt. In addition to the appropriate Belgian proofs, the gun is also Danish proofed in 1939, on the barrel rib near the muzzle. The gun comes in a nice hardwood presentation case with a green baize French fitted interior. Overall a very good example of the model 1910, Danish arsenal-upgraded, Bergmann Bayard Danish contract military pistol. (35528-68) {C&R}
