One of Elvis' well known hobbies was his passion for law enforcement and collecting firearms. He amassed an impressive number of guns and firearms over the years, and offered is an official U.S. Firearms Transaction Record dated December 1, 1970, for his purchase of a P38 9mm automatic pistol by Walther with the serial number 324308. This two-sided, printed document has been completed in another hand but signed by Elvis Presley as the transferee/buyer. The official document, transfer transaction number A-325, from the Department of the Treasury - Internal Revenue Service, has double three hole punches down the left side and is stamped by the Frontier Gun Shop in Palm Springs, California.
Walther, a German gun manufacturer, designed the P38 semi-automatic pistol shortly before World War II and began production in 1939 for the German Army. Given that Elvis was stationed in Germany, this model was a sure-fire addition to his collection. The document measures approximately 10 1/2 by 8 inches (26.67 x 20.32 cm) and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.
Condition Report: The Firearms Transaction Record is in excellent condition overall with a strong Elvis Presley signature.
