Estimate: $2,000 - $3,000
Description: DUTCH OIL ON OAK PANEL, Abraham and Hagar, circa 19th century. Abraham sending away Hagar and Ishmael while Sarah and Isaac look on. In the style of Job Adriaenszoon Berckheyde (Dutch, 1630-1693), spuriously signed "J. Berckheyde" lower right and appears to be inscribed "Haarlem" lower right, although faintly. Paper label attached verso from Vickery, Atkins & Torrey, 236 Post Street, San Francisco. Image measures 13.25” x 11”. In a wood frame, 21.5" x 19.5" overall.
Condition Report: 702: The painting shows all-over craquelure to the varnish and yellowing to the varnish. There is some kind of glue or resin splotches up near the window hoist and a few small chips to the painting underneath the varnish. The signature appears to have been applied at a later date than the creation of the painting.
