Description: Elijah E Tompkins, American, 1915-1999, a huge collection 75+ pieces of c. 1950 architectural renderings and art studies, most signed E. E. Tompkins, many dated, many apparently created for Columbia University. Portfolio includes nudes, interior and exterior renderings of mindcentury modern buildings, mixed graphites, charcoals, and watercolors, many with grades. NOTE: Tompkins was employed by American Airlines for nearly 10 years' as an operations agent in their engineering department. Later he was licensed as an architect, and practiced in .New York City as an Associate of Kahn and Jacobs, Architects, where he specialized in hospitals, airports and high rise office buildings. During World War II he served in the U S Navy as a Chief Specialist (V) in the Naval Air Transport Service, Much of his time was spent in the design of equipment for aircraft loading and passenger accommodations.
