Description: Hispaniae Novae Sivae Magnae Recens Et Vera Descriptio 1595. Abraham Ortelius (1527-1598). Engraved map. Antwerp, 1595. 14 x 18 inches sheet, 23 x 27 inches framed. One of the best early maps of Mexico and a cornerstone map of New Spain. The prototype for most maps of the early 17th century. It covers the Pacific coast from present-day Acapulco to about Mazatlan and inland to Mexico City, which is situated on a large lake.
