Edward Corbett’s appropriately-titled “Anxiety Clusters” portrays an unusually frenzied side of the artist, famous for his more subdued Abstract Expressionist paintings in moody colors.
Edward Corbett (American, 1919–1971)
Born in Chicago, painter Edward Corbett studied at the California School of Fine Arts and moved to New York where he joined the Abstract Expressionist movement. He later moved back to California where he taught at his alma mater followed by several other universities across the country. His abstracted landscapes are found in numerous collections across the country including the Art Institute of Chicago, National Gallery of Art, Washington D.C., and Museum of Modern Art, NY.
