Description: The North American Indian, Volumes 1-18 Cambridge, MA: University Press, 1907-1910 (Volumes 1-5); Norwood, MA: Plimpton Press, 1911-1930 (Volumes 6-18). Edited by Frederick Webb Hodge. Field research conducted under the patronage of J. Pierpont Morgan and Foreword by Theodore Roosevelt. The first volume signed and dated in ink by Edward S. Curtis on the introduction page. Each volume numbered 225 in ink from an edition of 272 of the proposed edition of 500. Comprising 18 of the 20 Text volumes, containing approximately 1,350 small-format photogravures. 4to (text and small-format photogravures in 18 volumes), bound in original half-brown morocco gilt by H.
