Condition / Notes: This antique volume is bound in cream cloth covres with a green cloth backstrip bearing stamped black lettering. There is light rubbing and toning to the exterior, heaviest at the edges. The binding is solid. The frontispiece depicts "Ice, mast-high" from the deck of a ship. The pages show mild age toning and occasional light marginal spotting. The work is profusely illustrated with 56 photographic plates and four maps, including a fold-out map at the end of the text. The work contains a foreword by the founding President of the Oxford Exploration Club Lord, Tweedsmuir.
