EDWIN AUSTIN ABBEY (American, 1852-1911) THE SLEDDING TRIP. A small unframed watercolor sketch shows a boy pulling a young girl on a sled through snow with bushes and tree behind. Signed lower left "EA Abbey 1877". Abbey was a staff artist for Harper's Magazine and this dates from a second tour with Harper's and may well have been used. Abbey was a founder of the Bohemia Colony in England with John Signer Sargent. PROVENANCE: The Donelson Farquhar Hoopes Estate, Steuben, Maine. SIZE: 4" x 7". CONDITION: Very good. 9-70715
