Notes: Eileen Agar's work was selected by Roland Penrose and Herbert Read for inclusion in the International Surrealist Exhibition at the New Burlington Galleries, London, in 1936 and she went on to exhibit with the Surrealists in Paris, New York and Tokyo. She had solo exhibitions at the Hanover Gallery in 1949 and 1951.
The present work demonstrates her incorporating wax into her array of media.
