NOTE

This charming portrait depicts the artist's daughter, Marie Louise Munier, cast in the role of an idealized young shepherdess. Munier often used his children as his models; in particular his eldest daughter Marie Louise. The beautiful landscape is that of the Puy-de-Dôme, painted during the months Munier spent in Royat, in the mountainous Massif Central region of France.
