Description: Erte (Russian/French, 1892-1990) 1985 "Arctic Sea" Limited Edition Signed Sculpture Numbered 372/375 *STUNNING* W/Original Packaging - This goregous piece is a limited edition, signed sculpture by Erte titled "Arctic Sea". The piece is a part of Erte's "Theatre in Bronze Collection". The sculpture depicts a nude woman draped in a cloth with a feather winged sleeve. She is also wearing a beautiful, long beaded headdress. The piece has gold gilt detailing on the shoes and headdress. The piece is in very good condition with no chips, cracks or restoration. The sculpture is signed and numbered on the base, "1985 Chalk and Vermilion and Sevenarts 372/375". The piece was also signed by Erte, incised into the beveled marble pedestal. The piece measures 29"H x 13"W x 13"D, and the base measures 7.5" x 7.5". The sculpture comes in the original box and packaging. This piece was based on a costume design for the 1927 George White production, "Scandals", which Erte designed sets and costumes for. The sculpture comes with a soft, black and gold felt cover from Chalk & Vermilion. Over a long and distinguished career, Erte had a major influence on the style and design of the 20th Century. The designs created by Erte during his lifetime heavily influenced the world of theater, film and fashion, but an entire art movement as well. His work is considered among the most influential and unique of the 20th century, earning him the title "Father of Art Deco."
