Description: An Etruscan/Roman terracotta head of a man, c. 1st Century BC, of veristic style, the head tilted slightly to the left, the features realistic and serene, the hair in low relief with receding hairline. H: 4 1/3 in (11cm). Light deposits. Mounted on custom base. Ex Collection of Denys Sutton, London. As editor of Apollo magazine from 1962 to 1987, Mr. Sutton kept his readers in touch with both the international museum world and independent scholarship.
