Description: Eugène DABIT (1898-1936). 6 L.A.S., 1928-1934, au Docteur CHEVALIER ; 8 pages in-4 ou in-8 (une au crayon, une en partie au crayon au bord un peu effrangé).
Samedi [1928]. Sur son installation à Marrakech avec son ai Caillard, décrivant la maison sous " un ciel d'un bleu profond ". Il raconte son travail avec ses modèles Radijah et Agada, " femmes fantasques, puériles, bêtes, capricieuses et rudimentaires ". Il décrit les souks et la foule grouillante : " ce qu'il y a de poignant c'est la misère de ces êtres "… Jeudi. De son séjour à Marrakech (où il rédige son roman Hôtel du Nord et peint), il compte rapporter une vingtaine de toiles : " J'ai des paysages, beaucoup de figures. Les difficultés sont énormes, insoupçonnables " ; du point de vue littéraire " Je n'ai pu écrire sur l'H. du Nord. R. M. du Gard m'a conseillé de prendre des notes sur ce voyage. Je ne le voulais point. Pourtant c'est un très bon effort. Je m'en rends compte car je n'ai écrit que des choses mauvaises ". - MARTIN DU GARD lui " signale de graves défauts de surface - qui entachent l'œuvre - Je retrouve ce que vous me disiez hier - m'engage à pousser ce travail "à la perfection" ". Ciudadela 22 octobre : en vacances aux Baléares, il travaille à son livre Faubourgs de Paris, qui paraîtra en 1933, et à une pièce Au Pont-Tournant. 25 juin : il demande des renseignements médicaux pour l'écriture d'une nouvelle. 16 septembre [1934] : après la parution de L'Île, il travaille à un nouveau livre, Un Paradis perdu, " dont l'action se déroule dans un village d'Ile de France. Vous devinez quel peut être ce paradis perdu ? Pour les uns, la nature ; mais pour quelques autres, Paris ". Il donne des nouvelles de sa mère qui tient l'Hôtel du Nord…

SMALL ITEMS purchased at auction and not collected after the sale will be transported to the PIASA offices and kept free of charge for a fortnight.
Thereafter the purchaser will be charged storage costs at the rate of € 3 + tax, per day and per lot.

At the fall of the hammer the title of property shall be transferred to the purchaser, who assumes immediate responsibility for insurance. Uncollected property will be stored at the buyer's risk and expense.
