Description: An excellent Nicoya tripod vessel from Costa Rica, ca. AD 1000 1350. This excellent Papagayo urn is 10-1/4 in high and features a beautifully sculpted jaguar molded to the front of the chamber. The broad band decorating the upper half of the vessel depicts a pair of stylized feline creatures, with linear décor adorning the rim. The hollow legs contain rattles. Overall in excellent condition, with vivid paint, good mineral deposits and root marks.
