Looking for the realized and estimated price?

Description: Exceptionally rare and early mallard drake, Harry V. Shourds, Tuckerton, New Jersey, last quarter, 19th century. It is quite safe to say that in general H.V. Shourds decoys in original paint are very rare, but to find a mallard in original paint is incredibly rare, given that now there are only two known to exist. Refer to "Classic New Jersey Decoys", James Doherty, p. 39, and for a complete treatise on H.V. Shourds.

Condition Report: Outstanding dry original paint with a superb patinaed surface; narrow crack in the neck; a few light shot marks.

Provenance: Bartlett collection.

Literature: "Classic New Jersey Decoys", James Doherty, p. 39.
