CATALOGUE NOTE
This work is one third of a larger project and represents the evening activities in Meudon in south west France were Schuffenecker frequently went to paint. The companion piece to this work depicts morning activiies. Both were intended to hang in the Meudon City Hall as part of a triptych. The central and most important panel was entitled La Fete du quatorze juillet and completed in 1888.
