Description: A fantastic large Egyptian faience ushabti with large inscription, Late Period, c. 664 332 BC, depicted mummiform, standing on integral base, wearing tripartite headdress with false beard. Arms folded at chest, hands grasping a pick and hoe, bag on left shoulder, eight horizontal lines of Hieroglyphic text down front of legs, last line continuing onto the vertical plinth at back. H: 7 7/8 in (20cm). Attractive features and overall style, glaze now a greenish brown beneath mineral deposits. A large and impressive example! Ex collection of Prof. Alan Pasch, Maryland.
