February 1781 "Massachusetts Lottery" Ticket
February 19, 1781-Dated. "Massachusetts Lottery" Ticket. Unused. Full Left and Right Margins. Extremely Fine.
This is a rare Colonial Lottery Ticket. This black Printed Lottery ticket is on laid paper and measures a very long 1.5" x 8.25". It has a distinctive floral design along the still attached indent stub. The tickets text reads: "This Ticket entitles the Possessor to such Prize as may be drawn against its Number, agreeable to an Act of the General Assembly of this State, passed February 19th, 1781." The ticket's number is left blank, since this ticket was never used, but it is designated "E" from a series of tickets which were printed in sequence on a sheet. Heavily age-toned at the center portion, which has brown-ink manuscript: "Robinson vs. Speartrust" Contd. Actions" noted, with some chipping and edge splits along two vertical folds.
