Condition: This unlined painting is slightly loose on its stretcher with a corner draw in the upper right. The back of the fabric support is dark with what may be the stains of either a recent varnish or the application of a consolidant. The painting exhibits age crackle that is most prominent in areas corresponding to edges of the stretcher members at the back. Most of the paint appears to be very good condition, though there is an area of cupped paint and loss scattered along the bottom two inches of the painting. A few tiny flakes are visible in the sky. Examination in UV indicates that the painting was carefully and beautifully cleaned. There is minimal retouching and the painting is coated with a synthetic resin varnish.
