0988, FENDER CUSTOM SHOP STRATOCASTER ERIC CLAPTON SIGNATURE MODEL
The headstock bearing the logo Fender/STRATOCASTER/WITH SYNCHRONIZED TREMOLO/Eric Clapton, neck date R&D #1 CS 2/23/88 and stamped in red ink in the neck pocket CUSTOM SHOP/Fender USA, the body in black finish fitted with three Fender Lace Sensor pickups; and re-issue hardshell tweed case with adhesive tape inscribed by Lee Dickson Auction #13/Blk. EC Strat. N.S.N./Mike Stevens

This guitar served as Eric Clapton's main stage guitar from the summer of 1990 until March 1993. After being used extensively during the US/South America/Japan leg of the Journeyman tour, this guitar played a key role in Clapton's epoch making six week season at London's Royal Albert Hall. The unprecedented 24 Nights season featured six nights each, of four piece and nine piece bands; as well as blues nights with US blues greats, and Orchestral nights featuring Concerto for an Electric Guitar And Orchestra by the late Michael Kamen, who conducted the 64 piece National Philharmonic Orchestra. Concerts with each of the formulations were recorded and later released in video and audio formats as 24 Nights.

Clapton also used this guitar when he and his band backed the late George Harrison in their tour of Japan in December 1991 and continued as Clapton's main stage instrument during the 1992 UK, European and US Tours.

Clapton also used this guitar when he played a version of Bob Dylan's Don't Think Twice, It's Alright to a standing ovation from the 18,000 strong audience during the four hour Bob Dylan 30th Anniversary Concert at Madison Square Garden on the 16th October, 1992.
It was also used by him on the historic Cream reunion performance of Crossroads, Born Under A Bad Sign and Sunshine Of Your Love, when the group was inducted to the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame at its 8th Annual Induction Ceremony, held at the Century Plaza Hotel on the 12th January, 1993, and on other occasions throughout that year.
