The Ferrari 400i was introduced on the market in autumn 1979 as a version of the Ferrari 400, a 2+2 seater coupé. The 400i was an advancement of the 400 GT and had a Bosch-K-Jetronic fuel injection system instead of the 6 Weber twin carburetors. The heart of the sports car was a 4.8 liter engine with 4823 ccm and an output of 228 kW (310 hp). The 400i is considered an insider tip for collectors, as it is the first Ferrari with an automatic transmission. A slightly modified version of the 400i was presented in 1982 for which the design of the interior including cockpit, the camshaft profile, the exhaust manifold and the rear axle level control were changed. This way the output was increased to 232 kW (315 hp). Next to the version with a three-gear automatic transmission, of which ca. 883 units were built, a variant with a five-gear manual transmission was also available. Around 422 models of the latter were built.
This corrosion-free Ferrari 400i was shipped from Italy to Japan in 1996. In 2011 the car was imported to Europe, all taxes have been paid. Body and interior were completely restored. Next to the finish, exhaust system, the spark plugs, oil and filters were also renewed.
