Description: First World War Naval Casualty group of four, First War trio named (344752 G.W. BLORE. S.S. R.N.) together with Naval Long Service Good Conduct (344752 G.W. BLORE. SH. ST. H.M.S. VINDICTIVE) George William Blore was born in 1882 in Sheerness, he was serving on HMS Stephen Furness when on the 13th Decemember the ship was strunk by a German U boat torpedo, his body never recovered for burial. SS Stephen Furness, built by Irvine's Shipbuilding & Drydock Co. Ltd., West Hartlepool in 1910 and operated at the time of her loss by Royal Navy, was a British passenger of 1.712 tons, used as an armed boarding cruiser.
