Louis XV (1715-1774). Marie-Joseph d’Hostun, duc de Tallard, Pair de France (1684-1755), comte de Bourgogne. Médaille en or, non datée (1752-1755), frappée pour l'académie des sciences et des arts de Besançon, dont le duc fut le fondateur en 1752.
Av. Armes couronnées. Rv. Inscription sur quatre lignes dans une couronne. 93,38 grs. Ø 52 mm. La Pairie de France était composée de grands officiers, vassaux de la couronne de France. Les Pairs de France, au nombre de douze, étaient des électeurs à la royauté jusqu’au règne de François Ier, à partir duquel leur rôle devint honorifique. Ils continuèrent de participer aux cérémonies du sacre et conservèrent de nombreux privilèges.
