Description: FRANK B. VOSS (1880-1953): NAUGHTY GIRL
Oil on canvas, 1927, signed ''JB Voss'' and dated lower right, titled lower left. 9 x 13 1/2 in., 10 1/2 x 15 1/4 in. (frame).

Note: Franklin Brook Voss was a native New Yorker, attending the Art Students League of New York and setting up his studio there. He specialized in horse portraits, receiving commissions from the Vanderbilts, Whitneys, Phippses and Webbs, as her and lots 58 and 59. Voss painted many of the most famous racing and polo horses, including Seabiscuit, Man O''War and Equipose. Naughty Girl was one of James Watson Webb''s polo ponies, seen here in the fields at Shelburne Farms, VT.
