Description: Franz Merkel Zella Mehlis addressed O/U combination rifle/shotgun showing U.A./Z markings with eagle over "N" proofs., serial #7650. The barrels measure 24-1/2" and the top barrel is 16 gauge extra full over 8 x 57 R. The frame isnicely engraved with scrolls and game scenes and the barrels show mounts for claw type scope. The rifle barrel shows a set trigger and the frame shows cocking indicators. The stock has been broken in transport and needs repair. Qualitywalnut with a cheek piece and measures14-1/4" to the end of the horn butt plate. The barrels retain 90-95% original blue and frame shows about 50% light gray original colors. There is some beginning rust. The trigger guard shows 85% blue, the gun locks tight and the bores are very good plus and may clean to excellent. The fore end is very good with sharp checkering but the butt stock is badly damaged and needs restoration. The stock has pulled away from the frame and hascracked from poor and careless shipping.
