Französisch, um 1790: Arkadische Landschaft mit badenden Frauen
um 1790. Arkadische Landschaft mit badenden Frauen, im Mittelgrund ein von Pappeln umgebenes Grabmonument. Öl auf Holz. 41,5 x 32 cm.
Unter Rückgriff auf das mythologische Motiv der badenden Nymphen zeigt die charmante Darstellung eine arkadische Landschaft mit Frauen, die sich beim Bade in einem Fluß vergnügen. Die von Pappeln gesäumte Urne ist eine Reminiszenz an das Grabmal Rousseaus auf der "Ile des Peupliers" (Insel der Pappeln) im Schlosspark von Ermenonville, das kurz nach dem Tode des Philosophen im Jahre 1778 errichtet wurde. Verso mit rotem Siegellackstempel einer alten Sammlung.
