Description: French Industrial Steam Clock & Barometer. A large central cylinder and piston with a vertical connecting rod powers the flywheel with a centrifugal governor assembly. The cylinder has two large fireboxes on either side mounted with boilers with all attendant pressure lines and tubing leading to the cylinder. Clock movement is located above the left firebox, has black Roman hour numerals and open moon hands; there is a barometer over the right firebox and a thermometer behind the cylinder. The automation is driven by a separate spring motor housed in the base, powering the flywheel. Featuring original gilt and deep brown patina throughout on a rouge marble base, Circa 1890. 18.5 in. high x 14 in. wide x 7.5 in. deep.
