Description: 1st-3rd century AD. A schist frieze panel with an arched building to the centre with the Buddha in long monastic robes standing within, hands held in prayer; to the left of the Buddha a disciple in monastic robes; arch of the building in the form of a two headed serpent, with heads rearing at the ends; birds standing on top of arch; elaborate columns in recessed panels to the side; scrolling foliate border to the top; mounted on a custom-made stand. 9kg, 27cm including stand (10.5"). Property of a London gentleman; acquired before 1995.
