1849 Zachary Taylor Indian Peace Medal in Bronze
1849 Zachary Taylor Indian Peace Medal. Largest Size. 76 mm. Julian IP-27. Struck at the United States Mint in Bronze. Gem Mint State.
Julian IP-27. 76 mm. Belden-41. This is a lovely original specimen of the Largest Size Zachary Taylor Indian Peace Medals was Struck in Bronze at the United States Mint in Philadelphia. It is made from dies engraved by Henry K. Brown (obverse) and John Reich (reverse). The rich natural bronze-brown toned fields are still highly reflective having excellent eye appeal and only one small dark spot of verdigris at the final obverse "S". The rims are sharp and mark-free on this high relief medal. This is the only IPM designed by New York sculptor Henry Kirke Brown, creator of that city's equestrian George Washington statue located in Union Square. An impressive quality, original Zachary Taylor Indian Peace Medal, excellent for any display.
