Mrs. MacArthur and Arthur are seen waving. Standing behind young MacArthur is Army Secretary Frank Pace, Jr. and Mrs. Pace. Photo was taken by Maurice Johnson. 7x9 in., INP caption still attached. Johnson was a noted photojournalist. VG. About this noted photographer: Maurice Johnson [1919-2007] he was superintendent of the US Senate Press Photographers Gallery for nearly 30 years. He joined International News Photos in 1942, and covered sports early in his career. He eventually worked his way up to become INP's Washington bureau chief before joining UPI as a staff photographer in 1958. From the late 40s through the late 60s, Johnson mostly covered presidential politics, including political conventions and the administrations of Truman, Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson and Nixon. Appointed superintendent of the Senate Press Photographers Gallery in 1969, Johnson managed arrangements for coverage of Capitol Hill events including the Watergate hearings, and the Iran-Contra hearings, and presidential inaugurations.
