Description: Oil on panel 20.5 x 40.5cm (8 1/8 x 15 7/8 in.) By 1912 Denholm Armour had signed a contract with Country Life to compose three or four drawings of sporting and country subjects each week. In 1913 he was sent to America on behalf of Country Life to makes sketches of the international polo match. Between 1886 and 1939 there was a total of 12 matches between the British and American teams. In 1913, the Americans nicknamed 'The Big Four' won the match. This oil on panel is likely to be a work made from sketches from this international match.
