New York
My Dear Ms. Dunbar-
I was spending a week with my friend and fellow partner Ben Foster at his home in West Cornwall, Conn.
He had been urging me for some time to see his place in winter and said "I want to take you to a spot about ten minutes walk from the house where you can get a view of the further hills" and so "The further Hills Seen Through a veil of evening light" was painted.
It is one of my best things and I believe the people who now own it will grow very fond of the painting for the motive has a real appeal-
