"No. 35 Georgia Cracker Hanna MFG. Athens Ga." No number on knob
Hanna Manufacturing, Athens GA
The Georgia Cracker bat was put out in the 30's and indeed is named for the rather derogatory term "Cracker", used to describe the rural inhabitants of Georgia. Several teams used the nickname "Crackers", including the Atlanta Crackers (Southern League) and the Atlanta Black Crackers.
This bat is in incredible condition. It has some scuffs and marks as expected. However there are no cracks or defects. The center logo shows very little loss and is very good. Minor wear. This bat is NOT taped with no cracks Note: Occasional examples of this bat come to market, however, it is extremely rare that this bat becomes available that are not "taped". It should be noted that bats with taped handles normally to a great extent have cracked handles. Cracked handles decrease the value of bats an average of 90% All & all, this is a fine example of this vintage baseball bat.
