Description: 9.3 CF, 25 1/2" octagon barrel with bright about excellent bore showing traces of frosting in the grooves. The barrel has a fully matted top flat and retains 90% blue showing some edge and muzzle wear with a few oxidation specks; it is keyed with a single wedge through German silver escutcheon. The receiver and bolt assembly exhibit 80% case color showing some fading of the top and the bolt handle and the triggerguard displays mostly a pewter patina. The metal is embellished with some foliate and geometric engraving, the triggerguard showing a panel of acanthus leaf scroll with an engraved front extension. The pistolgrip stock is nicely carved with a right hand cheekpiece, modified schnabel tip, and with raised panels on either side of the action and rates good to very good displaying minor dings and scratches over a fairly strong smooth finish. Fine checkering is applied to the grip showing a few impact marks and soiling. There is a horn gripcap and checkered buttplate, both displaying some chips and soiling. In addition, there are sling rings affixed to the toeline and to the underside of the barrel. The gun is equipped with a beaded blade front sight, a two-leaf rear express rear sight, with one standing and one folding leaf, a folding peep sight which neatly folds flush into the tang, and double set triggers. An early high quality sporting rifle which appears to be a 9.3 x 72R but should be checked by a competent gunsmith to verify. (116328-44) {C&R}
