Woodcutters working beside a forest path near a river oil on copper 12 x 165/8 in. (30.4 x 42.2 cm.) The reverse of the panel is inscribed with the no. 95 and the Roman numerals CLXV. The copper panel is stamped with the maker's mark of Peter Stas, dating the support to circa 1605. PROVENANCE Anon. sale, Phillips, London, 7 December 1993, lot 78 as (œ65,000=$97,000).
