Description: Gordon (Charles George, army officer, killed defending Khartoum, 1833-85) Autograph Letter signed to "My Dear Robson" J. Robson, Maybank Road, London, 2pp., 8vo, Mauritius, 17th October 1881, commanding the Royal Engineers in Mauritius, asking him to pass on his congratulations to his brother on his recent marriage, saying how sorry he was to hear he was leaving Airds (civil engineering firm), "I hope you will succeed in your own business. I have no idea, who I could introduce you to in W[ar] O[ffice]. I do not know even the surgeon. I think you must know Mr. Hurst. I do not know though, whether he has retired", folds, foxed.
