Cf. Menghin, W. The Merovingian Period. Europe Without Borders, Berlin, 2007, item I.34.7 for type. 5.12 grams, 24mm overall, 19.71mm internal diameter (approximate size British T 1/2, USA 9 3/4, Europe 21.89, Japan 21) (1"). These are the only ancient gemstones I have ever seen cut in this pattern.'
