Description: 7th-6th century BC. A ceramic alabastron with rounded body, discoid mouth with loop below, painted radiating strokes to the mouth and neck, pellets to the chamfered edge, opposed pair of gryphons with rosettes; Corinthian workmanship. 50 grams, 81mm (3 1/4"). Property of a London gentleman; acquired by his grandfather in the 1920s; thence by descent.
