Franklins expedition went farther north than any Arctic exploration team had gone before: 83 degrees, 30 minutes North. 54 plates and maps (or 45 illustrated plates and 9 maps), as follows- Vol I: 18 illustrated plates and 5 maps (1 folding, 3 as nonfolding plates, 1 on a leaf with text on other side). Vol II: 27 illustrated plates (2 folding) and 4 maps (1 folding map in rear pocket, 1 other folding map, 1 double-page, 1 on verso of a text leaf). In Vol II, the 2 folding plates are listed as a single plate on plate list. Vol I: xxv, blank , 428 pp. Vol II: xii, 444 pp. 8vo. Original blue cloth with red/gilt/silver front cover illustration.
