He was also involved in agricultural reform around the British Empire. His stories, situated at the lighter end of Victorian literature, continue to be popular and influential.

Condition / Notes: This is the first edition of this work. The volume is bound in dark green cloth, with gilt lettering to the front cover and spine. The interior of this volume displays occasional foxing and smudging, and a few creases. The work is illustrated with black and white plates.
