This work will be included in the Catalogue Raisonné on the work of the artist, being prepared by Jean-Christophe Pralong-Gourvennec.
NOTE
This work may be a study for the Baigneuse endormie exhibited at the Paris Salon in 1873 (no. 23) which is now in the collection of the Musée des Beaux-Arts de La Rochelle.
There are several differences: our Baigneuse is placed against a rocky backdrop reminiscent of Courbet, whereas in the La Rochelle version, the background is primarily a sylvan landscape.
