A Lady's portrait in the impressionist manner, which was presented at the Paris Salon of 1913 (a copy of the exhibiton catalogue is linked in the additional information)
The paint surface shows little losses of paint, craquelure and stains. The lower part of the canvas has been added. The varnish has been renewed. The inspection under UV light reveals older strokes of retouching to the background of the painting. The frame shows major losses.
Henry Charles Tenré (1864-1926)
Charles Henry Tenré grew up in Paris and studied at the Musée des Antiquités Nationales. In the 1880s, he began studying at the École des Beaux-Arts under Edmond Yon, Gustave Boulanger and Jules Lefebvre, focusing on historical and portrait painting. He presented his works among others in the salon of the Société des Artistes Français, and at the Exposition Universelle in Paris. (cko)
