Highly Ornate Silver Statue of a Riding Elephant with Mechanical Trunk

Measuring 12 1/2 inches long, 15 inches tall and 9 inches wide, this statue depicts an ornately adorned elephant with its rider. Covering the torso of the beast is a blanket, fitted with a set of hanging balls around the edges and nearly covered with raised scroll and floral designs with punch-dot backgrounds, and a head covering with similar scroll and floral work is present. On top is a canopy, which extends forward and is decorated like the blanket, and seated on the neck is a man in Eastern garb, holding a hooked pick. Fitted to each side is a spherical basket, which continue the scroll and floral pattern, have decorative cones extending from the bottom, and are fitted with hinged doors on top. Belts of hanging balls are secured to each foot and the throat, with additional balls hanging from ear piercings and the tusks have been trimmed. The statue is mounted on a 8 1/2 inch x 15 inch wood base, with leaf patterned silver feet, silver trim around the edges, and a silver crank; turning the crank causes the elephant's trunk to move back and forth.
