Description: Unusually finely made ancient Imperial Roman gold shield style earrings with "braided" hoops of fused twisted wires, a third twisted wire fused to the exterior of the hoop. Central domed shield discs encircled with twisted wire, a central cluster of granulation. Box shaped drops with granulated pyramids below. Intact, 1st - 2nd Centuries AD, Italy.
