Description: Pearls replaced in the late 19th or early 20th Century.
Elaborate gold shield style ancient earrings, intricately cut from gold sheet in the opus interrasile technique. Circular discs featuring central bezel-set circular domed cabochon garnets encircled with applied twisted wire, horizontal bars attached below discs with symmentrical diagonal struts and bosses articulated with granulation, the bars hung with four wire drops, each wrapped with pearl beads. No repair, 2nd - 4th Centuries AD, probably Italy.
