Looking for the realized and estimated price?

Description: Ancient Near East, northwestern Iran, Amlash, ca. 1200 to 800 BCE. An attractive burnished pottery vessel with a piriform body on two pierced nubbin feet, a slender neck that resolves to a gently flared rim, and most intriguingly, twin rams for handles, each one so cleverly modeled with dramatically curving horns attached to the rim, finely delineated profiled heads, and double finger holes made possible by the openwork design. Complementing this intriguing anamorphic iconography is the bichrome red on orange stylized geometric program decorating the body. Amlash vessels were buried in large megalithic tombs, built by part of the Marlik culture. Despite its proximity to the large Mesopotamian cultures, the geographical barrier of the high Zagros and Elburz Mountains kept it relatively isolated and a very unique ceramic tradition developed there. An elegant funerary piece most likely created for a person of import given its iconography and beautiful design. Size: 6.25" W x 8" H (15.9 cm x 20.3 cm)
