Description: An intricate Chinese bronze sword hilt, Western Han Dynasty, 206 BC AD 220, with large triangular pommel, the handle covered with numerous small spines to grip the fabric or leather it was presumable wrapped with. The shoulder is lightly curved with vertical flange which continue upwards, two large spike projecting from either sides. The handle is quite nice with remains of the iron blade still in place. L: 8 in (20.3 cm). Light deposits and a very nice example! Ex Southern California estate, acquired mid-20th Century.
