Description: 1st century BC-1st century AD. A bronze figurine of a mounted warrior with legs thrust forwards, surmounted by a domed helmet. See Durham, E. Metal Figurines in Roman Britain, vol. 2, Reading, 2010, plates 87-96 for type. The domed headgear may be an attempt to show a helmet of the Stara Gradiska type with a deep bowl; see Travis, H. & J. Roman Helmets, Stroud, 2014, item 41. The pose with the legs thrust forward was normal until the introduction of the stirrup to Europe in the post-Roman period. 15 grams, 35mm (1 1/2"). Found East Anglia, UK; before 2000.

Condition Report: Fine condition. Rare.
